Beth Horrocks
After graduating with a Graphic Arts degree in 2003, I became a graphic designer working mainly in the water sports sector. As a by-product of working 16 years in the computer aided design industry, the graphic pen and tablet has transformed the way I work, I no longer rely solely on sketchbooks using pencils, paints and mixed media to realise my ideas, my style has evolved and technology has given me more freedom if anything! Especially when it comes to printing.
My inspiration comes mainly from the beautiful Welsh coast, being brought up here has played a big role in my life. I married a windsurfer and have been on many winter trips to sunny South Africa in search of the perfect sail and surf.
I have always been mesmerized by the sea, I love being at the beach – the motion of the waves, the sound they make as they crash onto the shore. Mother nature seems to portray many moods and intensities, whether it be a glassy day with wall-to-wall sunshine and mellow swell or blowing a hoodie, she never fails to move me. I am particularly interested in the connection people have with the sea, the buzz people get from catching a wave, the adrenaline rush, the excitement of it all – that coastal spirit which makes people feel alive.
All my drawings are vector based which means they are infinitely scaleable.. so if you have a specific size in mind, contact the Gallery.
Ar ôl gorffen gradd celf mewn Arlunio Graffeg yn 2003, mi ddechreais weithio fel arlunydd graffeg yn hybu busnesau yn ymwneud ag adloniant môr yn bennaf. O ganlyniad i weithio am 16 mlynedd yn y diwydiant cyfrifiadurol yma, rwyf nawr yn fedrus gyda’r meddalwedd â arferwn ei gasau fel myfyriwr yn y gorffennol. Mae yr ysgrifbin graffeg a thabled wedi trawsffurfio y ffordd rwy’n gweithio, nid wyf mwynach yn ddibynnol ar baent, pensiliau, glud a phapur i wirio fy syniadau. Mae fy steil wedi esblygu ac mae cyfrifiadur yn fy alluogi i greu celf a’r gallu i brintio.
Roeddwn yn lwcus i geal fy magu ger y môr mewn rhan mor hyfryd o’r wlad – Sir Fôn. Does dim rhyfedd bod fy magwraeth a chymaint o ddylanwad ar fy mywyd. Priodais a hwyl-fyrddiwr a chael profiad o dreulio llawer nadolig yn Ne Affrica yn mwynhau hwyl-fyrddio a syrffio.
Rwyf wrth fy modd ar lan y môr ac mae wedi fy nghyfareddu erioed, siap a ffurf y tonnau, toriad ton ar y traeth, rhowlio’r cerrig mân â’r gwylanod yn cwblhau yr awyrgylch. Mae gen i ddiddordeb gyda’r cyswllt rhwng môr a phobol, a sut yr ydyn yn mwynhau’r arfordir i gael ein ‘kicks’ wrth surffio ag ati. Fy nod yw portreadu’r teimladau â’r profiadau yma trwy fy ngwaith fel arlunydd graffeg.
Bob un o’r darluniau yn ‘vector’ sydd yn golygu bod nhw’n ‘infinitely scaleable’.. fuaswn i’n gallu gwneud yn unrhyw maint. Cysylltwch os oes ganddoch chi syniad.
