Diana Williams
Diana was born on Anglesey and closely identifies herself with the island. Childhood memories inspire her to create works which reflect her Welsh heritage. The work that she produces is heavily reliant on text.
Two years spent in Milan travelling the length and breadth of the country enabled her to appreciate the work of the Old Masters and following visits to the far East she came across a medium which suited the type of work she was looking to create. Silk enabled her to work extremely quickly. The ‘resist’ possibilities and the versatility of the material enabled her to combine materials to create different effects. An invitation in 2008 to join a Welsh/Irish Printmaking collaboration enabled Diana to work on lino and woodcuts and combine these with sewing. The collaboration toured Ireland, Australia and culminated in Oriel Môn on Anglesey. Her MA project saw her diversify and produce work with sound and film art. Diana lectures at Bangor University full time but continues to work as much as she can on her own art projects.
