Gwyn Owen

I trained at Wrexham and Cardiff Collage of Art before embarking upon a teaching career which began in Liverpool and ended as Head of Art and Design at Ysgol Bryn Eilian, Colwyn Bay.

Having more time on my hands after retiring allows me to pursue my life long interest. I am originally from Cricieth but now live in Old Colwyn, although I return to my roots most weekends as I have family in the area. It is here in Eifionydd between the mountains and sea, that I find inspiration for most of my paintings. I paint what interests me in a variety of media and prefer to be away from the “madding crowd”. Sickert, the Impressionists and indeed Augustus John have impressed and influenced some of my work.

I have exhibited at numerous venues including. Tonnau – Pwllheli. Oriel Glynllifon Caernarfon. Oriel Plas-Gly-Y-Weddw LLanbedrog. Oriel Maesofferen FFestiniog and Jamandic Art Gallery Chester.
