Tony Hinwood
Born and bred in Llandudno, North Wales, Tony studied at High Wycombe College of Art, before moving to work in London as a Graphic Designer. He also worked as an advertising designer and layout artist in Vancouver, British Columbia, before returning to the UK. He later worked as a creative artist and designer in London, where he was concerned with the creation, design and production of direct mail advertising.
After many successful campaigns where he won prizes and accolades from both British and American companies, he left to become a freelance graphic design consultant. At this time he also became interested and involved in publishing a successful range of books and CDs, well known as the “Adlib” series. In 1997 Tony decided to concentrate on fine art, working mainly in water-based mediums, e.g. watercolour and acrylic. He has recently added pastel to his repertoire and enjoys the texture and effects that this medium can produce.
When painting landscapes or seascapes, Tony likes to work from sketches and notes, usually completing the work later in his studio. His subject matter is primarily landscapes but old buildings and marine scenes, coupled with occasional portraiture, extend his interest. Tony is an exhibiting member of both Guildford and Farnham Art Societies and has exhibited widely in local and national galleries.
